History
- His exact origin is unknown
- A sculpture similar to the Chow Chow dates back 150-200 B.C
Personality and Behavior
- He's independent-natured and aloof; he doesn't need constant attention and cuddles to stay happy
- He prefers to do his own thing
- He bonds tightly with his master and he's more of a one-man dog than a family-dog
- He's extremely protective of his home and family and is one of the best guard dog breeds!
- He isn't overly energetic
Training
- He's one of the most difficult breeds to train. You will need lots of patience as he is one of the slowest to learn obedience commands.
Shedding
- He sheds profusely! You will find a lot of hair in your home - stuck to your couch, carpets and clothes - and to just about everything else. You will be vacuuming regularly.
Grooming / Maintenance
- His short coat only needs to be brushed occasionally. However, because it sheds profusely you may find yourself brushing it a couple of times a week, or even daily, to reduce the hair in your home (what you remove with a brush doesn't end up on the couch!).
